| Do I need a converter box foe HDTV?
I have 4 tvs and all are connected to the locable cable company. None of them are HDTV sets. All are "cable ready" meaning that I plug the coax directly into the set without a splitter. I do not have any antennas.
Will I need a converter box for each TV?
your help would be appreciated.

| Should I get an outdooe antenna?
Right now I have an analog tv with rabbit ears. I have been considering getting a good qality roof top antenna. If I get an outdoor antenna that is made for digital tv will it work with my analog tv until I get a digital or HDTV or will it be useless until I get a digital tv? Also, will I still be able to get a signal after the change over if I get a digital or HDTV even though I will only have a roof top antenna?

First off, thanks for all the info you have given on the site- it helps clear up more than a few questions. Now for my question- we just bought a Sony Bravia 40" plasma with built in HD tuner. We want to receive our local channels in digital and HD when broadcast. We are now on our 2nd attempt at a decent HD indoor antenna. Apparently, not all antennas are created equal- the first one only picked up about 5 channels and the second isn't getting a great signal on the 8 channels it does get. (one was the Philips digital PHDTV3 and I don't remember what the other was) I know you probably aren't "allowed" to suggest a specific antenna- but could you PLEASE at least point me in a good direction? I'm getting tired of shelling out $50+ bucks only to be in the returns lane the next day. There has got to be a good solution out there...
Thanks in advance!

I've talked to many people about this and I've gotten a different answer every time. Please help!!I just bought a Sony HDTV with an built in ATSC tuner. I also have the Diretv HD-DVR. When Directv came out to install a new dish I asked if I could pick up local channels with an indoor antenna. He said I could get an indoor antenna and hook it up to the HD-DVR receiver and pick up the locals. Bought an antenna, looked up info on antennaweb.org and hooked it up to HD-DVR and to the back of the tv like instructions said. Reception was fuzzy and snowy on all locals. Do I need to hook it up to only the television or only the Directv HD-DVR? I also read some of your answers to other questions that said KLRT-DT was on channel 30. What channels should I tune to to get the locals in HD if I do ever get the indoor antenna hooked up correctly?

We just purchased a lcd wide screen tv - we are not getting digital pictures - we are also not getting our surround sound system to work on your FOX station. (Bose) It works on all other stations. Daytona 500 is Sunday and we want to be able to get it in surround sound - Please comment as to why we are not getting only your station without surround sound.

What is the difference in a HDTV and a HDTV monitor? If I buy a monitor, do I have to buy extra equipment?

When buying a HDTV receiver, how important is it to get one that decodes MPEG 4? Few support it now, but will we see a decreased ability to decode future HD signal with just a MPEG STB?

I receive my television signal over the air... never had cable or dish. I am thinking of getting a 30" CRT HDTV with HD built in. Will I be able to receive your digital signal over my antenna that I have now and will the reception be any better than the analog siginal I receive now?

I'm watching FOX 16 on a set-top Samsung digital reciever. I haven't purchased a 16:9 HDTV yet, and am still watching on a 4:3 standard tv. I can't seem to get my ratio quite right. I set my reciever for 4:3 and it either stretches beyond the screen (lower 3rd graphics and the FOX 16 logo are off screen) or it's squished in a pillar mode. I'm watching on channel 30 (i guess that's 16.1). It's appearing that the source is 16:9 and I have only 2 choices, squish the picture vertically (and have pillar bars) or stretch it past the screen. Is there a 4:3 digital standard def channel I can use?

Dish Network has just upgraded their HD programming. I have HD with them now, but it says I need a new receiver to get the new programming. They are also advertising local channels in HD. My question is are they offering the Little Rock channels in HD, if not I do not want to upgrade right now?

I just bought an HDTV and a set-top tuner. Rather than go to the trouble of installing a roof-top antenna, I decided to start small and work my way up until I could find something that works well. With just a pair of rabbit ears I was able to pick up 11 and 16 without any problem last night. Today, I bought a powered internal antenna and am able to pick up 7, 11, and 38, but can no longer pick up 16. I have moved the antenna around, rotated it, but I can't get a whiff above 49% on 16. Any ideas? Am I simply going to have to buy an external antenna?

I have recently bought a new tv that recieves HDTV. I bought a internal HDTV antanna, I can pick up Ch 7 somewhat and Ch 11 good, but I can not pick up Ch 16 at all. Planning to have the Super Bowl party and it sure would be nice to watch it in HD. What are my options?

If I am not too concerned about price, what is the best HDTV type for me to buy? I am thinking of around 50 inches for the screen.
Although I am not sure what it all means, my research so far has come up with DVI/HDCP or HDMI connection and mutlimedia interface. Are plasma and LCD the best two types?

We purchased a Sony Vega 60" HD TV. Directv provides 8 HD channels which are great. We have an OTA antenna and are located about 35 miles out of Little Rock. We only receive KTHV TV CBS affiliate with a good HD signal. All other channels out of LR are snowy. If your signal is the strongest HD signal, why can't we receive FOX 16? Our local antenna company said that in Hot Springs most people with OTA antennas are only receiving CBS 12.1 because they are the only station broadcasting on a stong enough signal to be received here. Is that true? When will Fox 16 increase its broadcast strength so we will be able to receive your station and enjoy the shows you have to offer? Thanks for your help.

Has the FCC set a specific future deadline for the discontinuation of commercial TV broadcasts in standard analog format, or will the FCC allow television viewers a choice of both analog and HDTV broadcasts for years to come?

Any time-line on when FOX 16 will have their digital HD signal broacasting locally? I can currently only get KTHV HD over-the-air.

Direct TV is looking to charge $50 extra to install a regular antenna to pick up local channels. If I purchase a normal set of "rabbit ears" what channel is your DTV broadcast on. It says 16.1 in the schedule section. I don't know if my tv will tune to 16.1.
