| What kind of bamboo should I plant?
I'm interested in planting bamboo. I'd want the 'clumping' variety and one that doesn't grow too tall, due to power lines being nearby, but not directly under. Is there a bamboo that fits that
description that is tolerant to our region? I'm in the research stage and I may find that bamboo isn't the best fit for the area where I want to plant it. I wanted to look into it as an option though. Let me know if you need more info. Thanks for your time.

| I know what I want but how do I put it all together?
Greetings! I'd like more information on how to create a foundation planting for a new farmhouse (being built to look old like from the 1800s) using native shrubs, flowers, trees, vines and possibly antique roses and heirloom flowers. I've got lists and have an idea of what plants and shrubs are native to Arkansas and the available heirlooms, but how do I put it all together? Is there a book or online resource with diagrams? Any information is appreciated. Naturally I want the plants and shrubs that are low maintenance, beneficial to the wildlife and provide seasonal color and interest.
Thanks!

| If I use a protection screen will my plants do better in the hot summer months?
I'm considering installing a large (25' X 40')shade screen above our small, but well landscaped, back lawn area. If I install a screen that reduces sun penetration by 15% will my plants and grass that require "full sun" survive? I'm not looking for someone to blame if they don't survive ... I just need the best opinion of a gardening expert. The August sun here in central Arkansas tends to burn even the hardiest of our plants requiring full sun. I'm hoping a sun screen will help.

I have several knockout rose bushes in a large area mulched good. There were a lot of leaves blown in around the base of them over the winter.
