I have my boston ferns in my sunroom for the winter. I noticed a worm poop on the floor, it is a green worm that looks like the poop i get on my sidewalk in the summer under my maple tree what can I do to get rid of them. Can I prune it back to get more to the problem because they are huge? Help!

We have several holes that have been dug around the base of a large holly tree planted last year and several places in our lawn. The holes are about 2-3 inches in diameter and are rather deep. We live on South Lookout so there are lots of trees in our area and I know we have squirrels and chipmunks. Something is eating my hosta. There is some damage at the base of the leaf, but the real damage is to the tubular part under the soil. I am losing 2 -3 a day. We have been plagued with moles for the last 2 years. Do they eat hosta and oriental iris? How do I get rid of the moles? I was watching at Fox16 News and saw your tips for controlling mosquitos. There were products for chemical control and some for natural spray on the skin control and well as the plant. I would like to know the names of all the products including the plants and where they can be purchased. Also, can the plants remain healthy in the pots in which they are purchased. I live in a historic home in Conway and for the first time in the 60 years I've enjoyed the house and yard, I am having something gong on with the hundreds-of-years-old trees. For the last month we have had the ground and porches covered with sand-grain sized caterpillar droppings. I'm familiar with this and an occasional green caterpillar in my porch ferns, but never from my 4 oak trees. Two days ago I found two reddish caterpillars making their way to my front door. I have found none anywhere else, but obviously they are present. I have one friend in a different neighborhood who has the same complaint. My obvious questions are: (1) What kind of caterpillar is this? and (2) Are they harming my trees?

We have 5 Pecan trees that are mature trees. For the past 2 years they have had some sort of web and little knots on the branches and leaves with worms in them and all the pecans are no good. They have no weight to them and are eaten up inside with small holes, or large black spots. I am new to this area. I moved here from Louisiana after Hurricane Katrina. One of my neighbors told me about the chigger problem in our area, and she said they were very bad. Being from Louisiana, I have never had to deal with chiggers. Do you know of anthing that will help with this problem before they start this summer? I was told that a mixture of 4 tablespoons of dishwasher soap and 4 tablespoons of canola oil in one gallon of cool tap water sprayed over the entire yard would kill off the chiggers. We have a rather large yard, about 2 acres. 1"-4" below the surface is almost solid rock. Between the drought and the influx of fire ants, much of our topsoil seems to have disappeared. Now our yard is as rocky as it was 20 years ago before all our work bringing in topsoil. It took years to get our yard nice - what can we do to save what is left?
