LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — An animal health and nutrition company is celebrating the opening of its newly expanded facility in Little Rock.

Novus International announced Tuesday that the 45,000 square-foot manufacturing facility will employ more than 40 workers, an increase of more than 30 employees. Gov. Mike Beebe addressed an audience of about 300 people attending the event.

The Novus Arkansas site was developed to make a dry, granular powder that provides a source of methionine, an essential amino acid in pre-mixes and farm feed mills.

Officials say the expanded facility also earned Silver LEED Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.

Novus has nearly 1,000 employees worldwide who serve more than 3,000 customers in 100 countries.

Officials say the products from Novus Arkansas will ship to more than 60 countries around the world.
