LITTLE ROCK, AR - Windmill blade manufacturer LM Wind Power has announced plans to layoff over 200 workers at its Little Rock plant.

Adam rumple, Human Resource Director for LM Wind Power in Little Rock said, "We have this week told our workforce that we are resizing our workforce and business to fit our plans for 2013."

The Danish company employs 300 people full time at the Little Rock plant. Ruple says they will cut 80 hourly employees, 14 salaried and 140 temporary jobs.

Tim Griffin statement

From Rep. Tim Griffin regarding the recent layoff announcements from Hawker Beechcraft and LM Wind Power:

“This is terrible news for the affected Hawker Beechcraft and LM Wind Power employees, their families and all of Arkansas. My heart goes out to them. Arkansas remains a great place for manufacturing, but these announcements, as well as today’s news that the national unemployment rate continues to rise, are just a few of the reasons why strengthening the economy and encouraging job growth remain my top priorities.”

Unfortunately "job security" is a contradiction in terms. One alternative is to create your own "economy", which I included in a recent post: http://randyreek.com/economy

Just a way to get the Amish vote. Fossil fuel pollutes and is not going to last so we put strict regulations on it till we put it out of business. Green energy blocks the view, makes noise, birds, fish and desert turtles may be affected by it, so we will cut out any tax incentives to develop it. Does anyone know where I can take some classes on candle and arrowhead making or how to hitch a horse to a buggy? That seems to be the way our future is heading.

Work @ LM once. LM stands for Lousy Management. Previous layoffs were the first hired and they kept there buddies who were hired later.

Look at the bright side. We've had 170 and 90 laid off this week in AR. Now we add another 200. More votes against Obama and his "recovery" and "change"?

did you know that the cost to manufacture just ONE windmill blade is around $80k and the US GOVT, via the tax payer $$, forks out $200k to that company, per windmill blade. And the blades just sit out there, not being used...Ahhh gotta love govt efficiency.
