Pastor, community respond to flood victims

The tiny community of Lodi never expected to be in the middle of a natural disaster.

But when the Albert Pike Campground flooded in Ouachita National Forest, Pilgrims Rest Missionary Baptist Church reacted and the supplies rolled in.

"We were just inundated with so much of this and we just piled it up along the walls and down the hallway," says pastor Graig Cowart.

For four days community volunteers filled the church to assist survivors and families, like the Basinger and Smith's who together lost six loved ones including four children.

"All the people here have been so wonderful," Kerri Basinger says. "We couldn't have asked for anything better, they've gone above and beyond."

Pastor Graig Cowart says the tragedy has forever changed the tight knit community. He thinks for the better.

"It's just overwhelming what this community has done. I think its a tribute to being an Arkansan," Cowart says.
