TEXARKANA, Ark. (AP) — A man whose wife died in the 2010 flash flood at an Arkansas campground that claimed 20 lives has filed a civil suit against the U.S. Forest Service.

The lawsuit, filed this week in Texarkana, accuses the Forest Service of negligence including improperly constructing the campsite in a flood plain and failing to properly train park staff or implement a warning system.

The suit says Jerry McMaster went to the Albert Pike campground with his wife, Debra McMaster and their two young daughters to bike and fish. The suit says that early June 11, rising waters swept away Debra McMaster while her husband and two daughters clung to a tree.

A spokesman for the U.S. Forest Service says the agency does not comment on pending litigation.

I understand that there are many sides and opinions to this matter. But PLEASE keep in mind NONE of you were involved in this tragedy. For the sake of the victims' families, please keep these hateful comments to yourselves. Hope none of you ever have to deal with something as horrible as these people have experienced.

What I love the most is cowards that want to post but not let all of us see it. What is that white stuff in chicken poop. It's the chicken posters. If you camp you should be like me. Check all things out. I tent camp with my wife about 10 times a year. I listen to the weather reports. Have XM radio. If an adult lost their life it was their own stupidity. As for the children it is terrible. A grown person let them down. Something I would not do.

Last time I checked, FEMA does not require campgrounds to be built OUT of the flood plain or flood way like they do homes/buildings. So that part of the case isnt relevent. As far as the warning system goes, you were camping along a river and it rained. Do we really have to warn people that a river may rise during rain? C'mon. And for the part about the staff not being trained properly, thats a fifty fifty shot there. And by the way, ITS RAINING HARD TODAY, DONT GO TO THE RIVERS!!!!!!!!!!!!! Theres a warning.
