LITTLE ROCK, AR – Father’s Day is just around the corner. Instead of giving a boring old tie, or a bottle of cologne, you may want to get something different. Fox 16 tested out an outside of the box gift idea for Dad, the “indestructible” Aluma Wallet.
The Aluma Wallet says it is an alternative to overstuffed wallets for men and women alike. It is made of metal and opens like a clamshell, with several compartments to put your valuables. The Aluma Wallet claims it is water resistant and nearly indestructible.
To test its water resistance, we put it under running water in the kitchen sink. The contents inside had a few drops of water on them, but were mostly dry. Next, we submerged the Aluma Wallet in water. Same result, contents were mostly dry with just a few drops of water on a credit card.
Next, we test its durability. In the Aluma Wallet commercial, it says it is “crush resistant” and shows it being driven over by a car. So, we drove one of our Fox 16 SUV over it in the parking lot. While the wallet still opened and closed after being crushed, it did looked damaged.
Another problem a consumer might encounter is the lack of space in the accordion style storage area. We found that it was unable to carry more than 10 bills.
For all the reasons above, Deal or Dud tester Kimmy rates the Aluma Wallet as a “Dud.”
