An investigation is underway in Benton after a number of landscaping trailers turned up stolen.
The crimes took place over several weeks and in several different locations.
According to police, at least two people reported their trailers missing after leaving them in front of their house overnight.
One other person claims his trailer was damaged.
Whoever is responsible ended up stealing not only the trailers, but thousands of dollars worth of lawn equipment.
"These people are going around looking for crimes of opportunity,” Lt. Kevin Russell of the Benton Police Department said. “The easiest target and if they see something outside, parked in front of your house, not locked up, no lights... it's an easy target for them to come in and they'll take off with it before you know it's even gone."
Lt. Russell says that if you have a trailer, make sure you have nightlights outside of your house.
Also, chain it up – and record the vin numbers on all of your equipment.
