Randy asks: With more police in the Rivermarket and West Little Rock, why are they not adding more police in Southwest Little Rock? And why does it take an hour or more for police in Southwest to respond to 911 calls?
According to Little Rock Police – it’s because officers are usually backed up with emergency calls.
Last year, the 911 call center received over 400,000 calls. And with an average of 30-40 officers on the street at any given time, they have to prioritize which ones they respond to first.
Little Rock Police did say that it hopes to add an additional 60 officers on the street – but for that to happen, voters must approve the city’s proposed sales tax.
