glad to hear they aren't filing charges...Good old fashioned common sense..Had it been a public school, I'm sure the kid would have been arrested.

It takes a great amount of courage to own up to this. I'm betting a goodly amount of that courage may have been provided by the young man's parents, whom I am hoping will not be held financially responsible. Hopefully the young man will learn something positive from this.

I'm sorta with Butch, It would have been a little cheaper if he would have sprayed real grass instead of astroturf, besides, I know there was more than one kid in on this and he did good taking the fall for all of it.

he should be arrested and charged with vandalism, that amount would make it a felony, i think his parents should get a good lawyer and get it dropped to a misdemeanor but i think he should be charged. its not fair to other kids who have done less and been formally charged

The law changes from state to state what makes a parent responsible in a case like this. They well may be . There are also states where the parents had to know it was a possibility He could do this type of thing. Repeat offenses would help that. He is 16 so lets not peep his hide and roll him in salt just yet. I don't think it could be as bad as some talking on a phone driving or speeding. Think of what the cost of that could be.

At 16 years of age, still living at home, it makes mommy and daddy liable for the costs. Went through this myself a few years back. The kid is from another school and has to perform community service at Catholic. LOL. He better have eyes in the back of his head.

I am wondering where in the heck a 16 year old high school student is going to get $10,000 to reimburse the damages that was done to the field?
