LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — Arkansas education officials say four high schools with academic-achievement problems will get federal grants ranging from $1.5 million to $2 million in an effort to help them boost student performance.

The state Education Department says the largest grant, for $2 million, will go to Jacksonville High School in the Pulaski County Special School District. Helena-West Helena High School in Phillips County and Dollarway High School in Jefferson County were awarded just shy of $2 million. Marvell High School in Phillips County will get a little over $1.5 million.

The School Improvement Grants are funded with federal economic-stimulus money.

At Jacksonville, some of the money will be used to buy a tablet computer for every student and teacher. It'll also go toward funding incentive programs, college-credit courses and teacher-training programs.
