Camera helps check for energy efficiency

Kelly Dudzik:
"Over the past few weeks, we've been giving you tips on how to save money on your bill, and you probably noticed we're using this pretty neat camera."
Bret Curry: "Yeah, kelly, we used the camera throughout the project, and what this is, it's an infarred thermal imaging camera, and what we do with this is simply find temperature differences, and on a hot day like today when that hot air is coming into the house through those unwanted and unmanaged air places, we're able to find them and locate them and we have ways to fix those. Around the receptacles, on the walls of the house, we're able to take the cover plates off and simply put a gasket up to seal up that air, and all the places under the sinks where the air lines and water lines come in, we're able to use caulking and sealing products to take care of that as well. And then, we also use weather stripping around doors and windows that need that, too."
Kelly Dudzik: "And how much do each of these things cost?"
Bret Curry: "They're very inexpensive and homeowners can spend less than 100 dollars to fix these problems in their homes."
Kelly Dudzik: "So how much will that shave off your energy bill?"
Bret Curry: "Well, it just depends how big the leaks are, but it can be significant just depending. Each house is unique, so it is hard to determine, but it will make a difference for sure."
Kelly Dudzik: "Some great tips, and these products you can just go to your regular grocery store, your hardware store and find them there."
