Kelly Dudzik:
"We're here to help you save money on your energy bill. A lot of us leave the house and leave appliances, electronics turned on and we're just throwing our money away by doing that."
Bret Curry: "We really are, Kelly. We Americans love our electricity and we love our appliances and even when we're gone, they can be consuming electricity, so one way that we can handle that is to simply plug them into a strip cord, and then when we're going to leave for the day or the afternoon, just simply turn the switch off and they we're not consuming electricity."
Kelly Dudzik: "Now, are you okay if you just turn the switch off? Do you have to unplug the power strip from the wall? Can you leave that plugged in? Is that okay to do?"
Bret Curry: "That's correct. No need to unplug. Just simply turn the switch off."
Kelly Dudzik: "And there are also appliances that you can buy that are Energy Star rated that can also save you money in the long run. So, we're looking for that important Energy Star label, and this refrigerator doesn't have one."
Bret Curry: "You're right, Kelly, no Energy Star label to be found anywhere. So what we can do is actually go to energystar.gov and look for a list of manufacturers and their appliances because we know that the newer products use 25-50 percent less energy than their counterparts."
Kelly Dudzik: "And that can save you a lot of money. For more information, just go to our website FOX16.com."
