Aftermath of Shots Fired Near School

FOX16's Dustin Barnes follows up on shots fired near a middle school.
Little Rock, AR - Little Rock police arrest a man who fired shots near a middle school  and it happened while a volleyball game was going on on the campus.

When Little Rock police arrived at Dunbar Middle school, school security guards told them about a man firing shots in the air.

Shortly afterward detectives arrested John Smith.

He's been charged with aggravated assualt, possession of a handgun on school grounds, resisting arrest, and fleeing.

Police tell us Smith tried to hide the gun in an unlocked vehicle that didn't belong to him.

This all took place while a volleyball game was going on at the school.

No one was injured.

It happened after school hours when many of the students had gone home.

Police believe Smith was under the influence of  drugs.
