Allergies and brain tumor

People who have allergies may be less likely to develop a type of brain tumor.

Researchers analyzed stored blood samples of nearly 600 people diagnosed with Gliomas and Glioblastomas.

They measured the blood for two types of anti bodies produced as an immune response to allergens.

Women who tested positive for specific allergy antibodies had at least a 50 percent lower risk for the most serious type of tumors.

And in men, scientists saw a 20% lower risk

Fitness and grades

Physically fit students are more likely to score higher on standardized tests.

Researchers studied more than 1200 middle school students.

They looked at the kids' heart and lung health, as well as their body mass index.

The children also filled out questionnaires about their self-esteem and social support.

Experts found students with higher levels of cardio-respiratory fitness had better scores on both math and reading tests.

And the more fit the kids are, the higher the score.
