Breast Cancer diagnosis

Studies show the older a woman is when she is diagnosed with a certain type of breast cancer the more likely it is to be fatal.

This comes from the "Journal of the American Medical Association."

In addition mortality from other causes increased with age as well as a higher risk of breast cancer relapse.

Study authors say their data underlines the need for age-specific breast cancer studies in order to improve outcomes for all patients.

Komen resignation

The fallout continues from the Susan G. Komen's Foundation fiasco with Planned Parenthood.

The Foundation's Vice President of Public Policy Karen Handel has resigned.

Handel said in her resignation letter that she supported cutting off funding for Planned Parenthood.

The Foundation originally cut the funding last week, citing an investigation launched by a congressman with the backing of anti-abortion groups.

They have since changed their minds.

HIV/AIDS awareness

Today is National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day and students at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff met a woman who lives with the disease everyday.

Marvelyn Brown contracted HIV 9 years ago from her boyfriend.

Since then, she goes all over the country promoting safe sex - and emphasizes the importance of knowing your status.

The CDC says African Americans make up 46% of people living with the disease.

But African Americans only make up 12% of the U.S. population.

"There's a message behind me telling people I'm positive,” Brown said. “I want to get people educated, get people tested and get people to be responsible."

After Brown's spoke to the audience people in attendance were given the option to take an aids test.
