Little Rock firefighters are hitting the streets once again.
Today and tomorrow firefighters will stand on street corners collecting donations for the MDA. And as always, the money raised in Arkansas will support the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
Firefighters have high expectations for both themselves and the people of Little Rock during this event.
Firefighter Charles Austin says, “We want to thank all the citizens and visitors of Little Rock. They've really been helpful. Last year we did a little over $42,000, and this year the goal is $50,000.”
If you want to help fill the boot there are two locations today and tomorrow on Bowman and Chenal, plus West Markham and University.
Teens and Birth Control
Federal health officials say teenage girls are better at using birth control which could explain the drop in teen pregnancy rates.
The CDC also says doctors seem to be less averse to counseling their teenage patients on contraceptives.
Researchers found that about 60 percent of sexually active teens say they use some form of effective birth control -- like pills, IUD, rings or patches.
Also, the number of teens who say they're sexually active has gone down by 16 percent.
National Orange Juice Day
You may not have realized while drinking your morning orange juice that you were celebrating a holiday. May 4th marks National Orange Juice Day.
Florida is one of the biggest cheerleaders, of course, since that's where most of America’s OJ comes from.
Orange juice is packed with vitamins and minerals, including vitamin C, that enhance iron absorption, improve circulation, and may help reduce the risk of heart disease.
