Fluoride lowers IQ

Harvard researchers have found children who live in high-fluoride areas have significantly lower IQs than those in low-fluoride areas.

Fluoride is added to drinking water, baby formula, and toothpaste to prevent tooth decay.

Further, the EPA says fluoride is a chemical "with substantial evidence of developmental neurotoxicity," meaning it interferes with functions of the brain.

Some doctors even say the positive effects it has on tooth decay aren't worth what it's doing to kids' brains.

Stress ages brain

Researchers say despite the fact women live longer than men, their brains seems to age faster.

The reason? Possibly a more stressful life.

Researchers were surprised to find the pattern of gene activation and deactivation that occurs with aging appeared to progress faster in women than in men exactly the opposite of what they expected.

Other doctors say the initial results are interesting but the connection to stress is speculative.

Blind mice see

We all know the story of the three blind mice well researchers at Cal Berkley are re-writing it by giving blind mice vision.

U.C. Berkeley researchers were part of a team that studied mice born with a genetic mutation causing blindness.

They found those they gave a drug to - were able to temporarily restore "some" sight.

With some diseases that cause blindness, the light sensitive cells in the retina die off.

This drug, called AAQ, when applied to the retina, forces other cells to jump into action and do the job.

It remains to be seen how the chemical will work in humans.
