Young girls who receive the Human Papilloma Virus vaccine do not become sexually promiscuous after the shot.

This according to a new study released online today in Pediatrics.

Right now, two versions of the HPV vaccination are available and recommended for all eleven and twelve year old girls.

But less than half receive the shot apparently due in part to concerns it might encourage sexual activity.

Researchers followed fourteen hundred eleven and twelve year old girls for three years in which about half got the Gardasil shot.

There was no significant difference in amount of Chlamydia, pregnancy or counseling for birth control between the two groups.

Child Sleep Behavior

If your child is irritable, impulsive, or struggling in school, there may be a simple solution.

A new Canadian study finds getting kids to sleep just a half-hour earlier each night can make a big impact on their mood and performance the next day.

Researchers tracked the sleep habits of a group of seven to eleven year old children.

They found kids who went to bed an hour later than normal were more impulsive, irritable, and not as alert.

But kids who added anywhere from 27 to 60 minutes of sleep to their bedtimes saw a significant improvement in their behavior and performance at school.

Researchers say more than half of school-aged children go to bed later than 9 p.m.
