Americans are slowly starting to embrace some key components of the controversial health care reform act signed into law by President Barack Obama nearly two years ago.
According to a new Harris Interactive Health Day poll, Americans are still sharply divided over the legislation.
36% say they want the law repealed.
21 say they want it to remain as is.
And another 25% would like to see certain elements modified.
Keeping pounds off
Losing weight can be hard work.
And keeping the pounds off can be even more difficult.
But USA Today reports the national weight control registry has found a few secrets to successfully keeping the weight off.
The organization is made about of 10-thousand people who have lost 30 or more pounds and kept it off for at least a year.
The registry found these people were more likely to count calories or carbs, eat breakfast regularly and limit eating at restaurants.
Counting calories
If you're trying to lose weight, it doesn't matter if you go low-carb, low-fat or high protein as long as you reduce your calorie intake.
Researchers randomly assigned several hundred overweight or obese people to one of four diets.
Each was designed to eliminate 750 calories a day.
After six months and again at two years after the diets started, researchers found no difference in weight loss or fat reduction between the diets.
Study authors note each individual should chose what is easiest for them and stick with it.
