Healthcare-Associated Infections – or HAI's-- are caused by a wide variety of common and unusual bacteria, fungi, and viruses.

People can develop them while receiving care at hospitals.

Each healthcare must report their HAIs to the Arkansas Department of Health.

Meditation protects against illness

Regular exercise or meditation may be the best ways to reduce your chances of getting acute respiratory infections.

Researchers found people who started a daily exercise routine had fewer bouts of the cold and flu and missed fewer days of work.

The team also discovered those doing meditation were more protected against illness as well. However, the study did not prove these activities prevented illness.

Health officials say sprinkling seeds in your food is healthy and can spice up a meal.

Dietitians with the Cleveland say chia seeds are a good source of omega-three fatty acids.

Sunflower seeds are high in vitamin E but stick with the unsalted ones.

Also sesame seeds have been shown to decrease the risk of chronic disease.

And pumpkin seeds can help lower your bad cholesterol levels and help prevent muscle weakness.
