The heat is affecting everyone but especially the millions of Americans living with the chronic lung condition, asthma.

Doctors say there are steps asthmatics can take to manage their condition.
  • You should stay indoors with the windows shut -- to avoid pollutants like smoke, dirt and gasses.
  • Stay in air conditioning -- because fans can actually blow allergens.
  • And when possible, avoid outdoor activity.
  • If you do go outdoors -- like for work- take breaks.
But experts say the best advice is to take medications regularly and have rescue medication on hand.

ADHD signs can be detected as early as 3 years old

Children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder exhibit an inability to sit still or focus. And parents may be able to identify some of the signs early on

Dr. Mike Manos treats ADHD at Cleveland Clinic Children's Hospital. He says while signs can be detected as you as three years old. Most often they are not apparent until after a child starts school.

Dr. Manos says, "In very young children with ADHD the first signs of it are typically those of kids who are hyperactive or highly impulsive. These are the kids who want to run out into a parking lot without even looking and parents have to watch them all of the time."

Dr. Manos says medications are typically very effective in treating the disorder. And kids are also taught coping skills to use in the classroom
