After days of negative feedback, the Susan G. Komen foundation will continue giving grants to Planned Parenthood.
Three days ago it announced it would cut its Planned Parenthood funding.
One of the driving force for the change of heart was social media.
“Everyday people spoke up - facebook, twitter - the outrage was clear,” Senator Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ) said. “And I'm pleased that this crisis is behind us and Planned Parenthood can continue trying to protect women's health.”
Many of Komen's affiliates across the country had openly rebelled against the decision to cut the funding - which totaled $680,000 last year.
Senior STDs
Sexually transmitted diseases are on the rise among older people.
British medical journal says researchers say 80% of people 50 to 90 years old are sexually active.
And sexually transmitted diseases have doubled in this age group within the last decade.
Researchers say older women tend to be more vulnerable to STDs because of post-menopausal changes.
Orange Juice Fungicide
The FDA says it has found traces of an illegal fungicide in some u-s orange juice samples.
Officials looked at 14 different samples of OJ concentrate from major juice manufacturers in Florida.
All of them had concentrate from Brazil, which contains low levels of a fungicide that's banned in the U.S.
The FDA says the fungicide is not dangerous and is not issuing a recall.
The tests were prompted by the discovery of the fungicide in OJ from Canada last month.
