A group of experts have voted bariatric surgery as a treatment for diabetes as the top innovation of 2012.
Bariatric surgery is fast becoming more than a cosmetic procedure.
It has many life-transforming benefits, including resolving diabetes in nearly eight out of ten people.
Doctor Schauer says bariatric surgery has also become very safe.
He says surgeon experience has led to a dramatic decrease in complications.
Prempro Trial
A judge says there will not be a new trial for an Arkansas woman who sued "Wyeth and Upjohn" over the drugmakers' hormone-therapy drugs.
Sondra Welch of Hot Springs Village claimed the drug companies failed to provide adequate warnings about the breast cancer risked associated with the hormone drug Prempro.
Jurors found that Welch didn't prove that inadequate warnings caused her to develop breast cancer.
