Meningitis Outbreak

Next week the commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration will appear before congress to talk about the nationwide outbreak of deadly meningitis.

More than 400 people have been sickened by tainted steroid shots distributed by New England Compounding Center.

29 people have died.

There have not been any meningitis cases reported here in Arkansas.

However, the state health department is urging all Arkansas facilities to remove any steroid injections - made by that company - that are still on their shelves.

Kids and Glasses

It's usually not easy detecting a vision problem in a child.

Doctors say some tell tale signs your child might have a problem seeing are frequent headaches.

And if you can read something that your child can't there could be a vision problem.

Eye fatigue could be another sign of vision problems.

Doctors says if you suspect any of these symptoms in your child, schedule a vision test for them as soon as possible.

Math Anxiety

Balancing your checkbook or splitting a bill - may be a pain in more ways than one.

A new study suggests the anxiety caused by even common math problems could cause physical pain.

Researchers at the University of Chicago found people solving tough equations showed the same brain activity - linked to the sensation of pain.

And it was even greater for people who admit to having a fear of math.

Of course they intend to do more research on this.
