Migraines with aura increase risk of stroke
Suffering from migraines is painful enough, but if you have migraines with aura you have an elevated risk for stroke. Aura is the term for visual disturbances seen during a migraine. Doctors say those who have aura during mirgaines are twice as likely to suffer a stroke. That's because doctors have linked aura with a blockage in a blood vessel, which is how a stroke occurs. Women who smoke and use birth control elevate their stroke risk even higher.

Fighting cancer with curry
Doctors could soon look to spices to help fight cancer. Irish researchers found a compound in curry called curcumin that has the ability to kill esophageal cancer cells. Curcumin is the chemical that gives turmeric its distinct yellow color. The scientsts say curcunmin starts to kill the cells in just 24 hours. Researchers hope this discovery leads to new cancer treatments using curry powder.

Sleeping in on the weekends
Parents it might be a good idea to let your kids sleep in on the weekend. Chinese researchers found that kids who get less sleep tend to be more obese. However, of the kids who don't get enough sleep, those that made up for it by sleeping in on weekends were less likely to gain weight. Researchers also say overweight children typically sleep less on days off than kids of normal weight.
