May marks the beginning of mosquito season.
Already Pennsylvania and California are reporting their first cases of West Nile Virus.
That means it's time to start taking precautions to stop the mosquitoes.
Always remember mosquitoes love water, they breed in it - so cut down on standing water where you live.
Empty pet water bowls, kiddie pools and containers.
Try to wear long sleeves and long pants during the hours when mosquitoes are out - usually during the dawn and dusk..
And use bug spray and bug lanterns to keep them away when you're outside.
Sounds simple, but these steps can prevent you from being bitten as well as contracting a serious virus.
Birth defects fertility
Babies conceived through in vitro fertilization have a higher risk of birth defects than those conceived naturally.
But the increased risk may stem from the parents rather than the treatment itself.
Researchers found the risk of birth defects to be 26% higher with IVF than with natural, or unassisted, conception.
Roughly 18,000 babies in the study were born with one or more birth defects, like cerebral palsy or heart abnormalities.
Dog food recall
There has been a nationwide dog food recall after 14 people got sick with salmonella.
The centers for disease control and prevention says it's investigating the salmonella outbreak that may be related to products from diamond pet foods.
There have been reports of this in nine states.
Investigators say it's possible the people got sick after contact with dogs that ate the food.
The recall affects several brands of food manufactured by diamond pet foods.
