Two new cancer research labs are now open at UAMS. The labs opened today inside Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute.

The ninth-floor lab will be used for research into cancers such as multiple myeloma, leukemia and lymphoma.

And the 11th-floor lab will be used for research into brain, skin, breast and cervical cancers.

U.S. Senators Mark Pryor and John Boozman were on hand for the event.

The project was paid for with a nearly $10.5 million grant from the National Institutes of Health.

Chickenpox cases are down more than 80 percent over the past decade. The CDC credits the large drop-off to routine use of the chickenpox vaccine.

The vaccine was first introduced in 1996.

The CDC now recommends that children get two doses of the vaccine before the age of six.

Teenagers and adults who have not had chickenpox or the chickenpox vaccine should also get two doses, at least four weeks apart.

As two-dose vaccinations increase, the CDC expects to see further declines in chickenpox cases.

There's new help for the 100 million people worldwide who suffer from dry eye disease.

A deficiency in the oil layer of the eye's natural tear film causes this problem.

Now a treatment called "lipoflow" is helping patients get some relief!

Lipoflow massages and heats the inside of the eye lid and unclogs the oils.

Each cycle is about 6 minutes long but results can last up to 2 years!

The procedure costs about $1,500 and is not yet covered by health insurance.
