Scientists say people carrying the gene are five times more likely to develop Parkinson's. The gene causes a lack of a certain enzyme as well as bone problems and neurological impairment. Doctors hope this new information will lead to better ways to treat or even prevent Parkinson's.

A new nutritional study found women who cut down on red meat and processed meats are less likely to develop breast cancer. Italian doctors studied 340-thousand women for seven years. They found the risk associated with red or processed meats varies by country but world-wide the risk averaged out to roughly ten percent. Doctors also found a slightly higher risk in pre-menopausal women who consume a lot of butter.
New Alzheimer’s centerBaptist Health has broken ground on a new Alzheimer’s center. The event kicks off construction on a new $30,000 square foot facility that will house 32 Alzheimer's patients. It will be the only Alzheimer’s residential center in Arkansas when it is complete. The new Center at Parkway Village will provide family resources as well as 24-hour care for patients. Construction begins this week and is expected to wrap up next October.
