The Coalition for a Tobacco-Free Arkansas celebrates its anniversary today.
The coalition is a network of statewide organizations with a shared mission to prevent the use of tobacco in our state.
According to the Arkansas Department of Health, tobacco use in Arkansas kills more people than the other top five killers combined and secondhand smoke is number three.
In Arkansas, 4900 people die each year from tobacco use.
The coalition says Arkansas' economy suffers from 633 million dollars in extra health care costs each year from tobacco use.
Child Bullying
It's tough sometimes for parents to pick up on the signs their child is being bullied.
Doctors at the Cleveland Clinic say there are some clear-cut signals to look for.
Doctors suggest asking your child if he or she wants your help -- or if they prefer handling it on their own.
You can also ask your child about getting teachers or the principal involved.
It's critical that you send your child back to school empowered -- so the next time they're bullied, they'll know how to handle it.
However, Doctor Austerman says physically fighting the bully is not recommended.
New York City soda ban
New York City's health board banned super-sized, sugary drinks at restaurants, concession stands and other eateries.
The regulation puts a 16-ounce size limit on cups and bottles of non-diet soda, sweetened teas and other calorie-packed beverages.
City health officials say the ban is necessary to combat a deadly obesity epidemic.
Some New Yorkers have criticized the rule as a government intrusion.
