An administrator from LSU is the new chief executive officer for UAMS.
Doctor Roxane Townsend will serve as CEO and vice chancellor for clinical programs.
In Louisiana, Doctor Townsend worked with the system's 10 hospitals and their clinics in developing system-wide policies.
She begins her new job February first.
Townsend replaces Richard Pierson who is retiring after more than 30 years at UAMS.
Breast Cancer
The number of patients dying from breast cancer is on the decline.
That's the good news.
The bad news is - there's still a large gap between black and white women in terms of mortality and when a woman diagnosed.
According to a new CDC report, black women still have a disproportionately higher breast cancer death rate – 41% higher than white women.
The report suggests a link between the high mortality rate and data showing black women less frequently use mammography than white women.
5 Hour Energy
Five hour energy shots may be supplying users with too big of a rush.
The FDA says those five-hour energy shots have been linked to 13 deaths and 30 life-threatening incidents since 2008.
The life threatening incidents include heart attacks, convulsions, and at least one "spontaneous abortion".
This news comes a month after the FDA said monster energy drinks were linked to five deaths.
