WebMD enhancement

The Arkansas State Department of Health teams up with WebMD to enhance the public health alerting system.

The messaging system directly transmits health alerts, advisories, and updates to those who sign up.

The alerts will cover health concerns such as infectious disease outbreaks, environmental advisories as well as preparedness planning.

ACS cancer study

The American Cancer Society is looking for 1,000 people to take part in an historic study.

CPS3 is a nationwide study, but part of it will be done right here in Arkansas.

Anyone between the ages of 30 and 65 is eligible.

The incentive for volunteers is not monetary, but to put your stamp on cancer research and continue the search for a cure.

Bottled water and teeth

Bottled water may not be the best for your teeth.

Tap water contains fluoride which helps protect against cavities.

But most bottled water doesn't have Fluoride.

Some experts say with Americans consuming more than eight billion gallons of bottled water each year, people are getting more cavities.

The international bottled water association denies the claim.

They advise consumers to look at the amount of fluoride in their overall diet.

And contact their dental care provider for their recommendation on how much they need.
