Doctor David Liu at the Longevity Center is treating a lot of patients for pneumonia this week.

Symptoms include difficulty breathing, coughing, chills, chest pain, a headache, fatigue, sweating, and a fever.

The treatment for pneumonia varies with the type of pneumonia you have. Bacterial pneumonia is treated with antibiotics. Viral pneumonia could get better with rest and by drinking liquids.

If you have any of these symptoms see your doctor immediately.

Dr. David Dass at St. Vincent is seeing a lot of reflux esophagitis.

Reflux esophagitis can make it difficult and painful to swallow. You can become hoarse, have a sore throat and heartburn.

Some causes include drinking alcohol, smoking, vomiting and taking some medications without plenty of water.

In some cases antibiotics are used if the infection is from bacteria. Your doctor may also prescribe medication to reduce acid. And surgery might also be an option.

Call your doctor if you have symptoms of reflux esophagitis.

One of the most common ailments this time of year is poison ivy.

Symptoms of a poison ivy rash start showing up within 12 to 48 hours of being exposed and can last two to three weeks. Those include redness, itching, swelling and blisters.

One of the most important things to remember: don't' scratch it! This can transfer the oil to other parts of your body with your fingers or even spread the oil to another person.

See your doctor if the rash is severe or widespread and if you have a fever of 100 or more.
