Ark. state rep. supports medical marijuana measure

A state legislator who co-chairs the Joint Budget Committee says she supports a ballot measure that would legalize medical marijuana in Arkansas.

medical marijuana relieves the suffering of chemo and ms i had a loved one on chemo it was so terrible . meical marijuana made them feel so much better sarted eating aain it was truly god sent i hope your family never goes thru it. please dont deny the sick and suffering some relef.i will say it again. it was truly god sent. i have seen it. thank you and god bles

Ya'll can say it all you want, but you will never be able to educate the ignorant. Those that are against this are only against it because pot is illegal now and considered a "narcotic." What they fail to realize is all of the pills that are pushed our way now are just what Yankee said, synthetic. And I also agree with saywhatsaywhat (see, I can agree with those I argue with, LOL) when they said the drug companies are pushing to stop this vote. It will interfere with their huge ass profits. People that are against this are not against pot, but against someone cutting into their profit lines. And the bible thumpers need to give it a rest. I promise you that most of them put worse things other than weed in their bodies.

Listen to Butch; maybe his testimonial can cure some of your ignorance ( lack of knowledge ); maybe not all of it, but the part concerning this measure. Read saywhat's post also, maybe that will help too.

Someone against this mentioned the word "synthetic". That's something made in a lab, right? As I've said before, I'll take what God made before something man made. And for you church people that are so self righteous and holier than thou ( they are in my church, and every church I've ever been a member of or visited ), read this - Genesis 1:11,12. Take your self righteous, holier than thou BS elsewhere; I don't like it, and neither does your Maker!

Ignorance is the main factor that makes individuals voice negative opinions about something that could alleviate other medical condition created by other pharmaceutical drugs being given to terminal & critically ill patients. I have been suffering with Lupus since 2001 & crisis that I have encountered are unimaginable. I was in the hospital with a temperature of 115 and doctors never figured out what caused this death temperature to develop, but to fix the problem they gave me prednisone (steroids), which brought me back to life, but added unwarranted sweats, weight gain, and depression. Therefore, if something that will have restrictions and could probably alleviate some of the symptoms for critical ill individuals why not give it a shot. The only people that are mad about this law passing or even making the ballot are drug companies (will put an end to some of the more dangerous drugs they are manufacturing), police (cutting in on their side income from stealing from the evidence room), and politicians (who grandchildren are pill poppers, meth heads, & pot heads without them knowing). I will love to use something herbal than to have to take a pill for the rest of my life being a 30 year old with my life span in question due to an incurable condition.

Butch, I would have to agree with you on this one. Myself, I have never had to go through what you are, thankfully. But I do know several that are. Most of them do smoke pot, it is the only thing outside of being fed painpills that helps them cope. And no, they are not "zombies" like some think pot smokers are. They would in fact be more of a zombie if they took all of the pills the drs wanted them to. The fact is that marijuana does have a medicinal value that a lot are, as Butch said, to ignorant to understand. A lot of people are blinded by the BS that surrounds the propaganda about marijuana being bad for you to understand it has a true medicinal purpose.

If our government wants to kill out a plant that grows naturally I vote it be Poison Ivy. They make our children criminals then place them with real criminals all in the name of the law,raise our taxes to fight a war on drugs they have already lost. I applaud Ms. Webb for her vote.

Walk a mile in my shoes. Cut on 37 times. Cancer 2 times. 2 heart attacks the first at 29. Lost a leg and almost an arm. The stuff you can get now is real tough. Addicted, prison, and a lot worse. Ive never worked with anyone that was addicted to pot. In the last 16 years I've worked with plenty of others addicted to prescriptions. What is so funny to me is that most of the people the oppose it are what I call closet junkies. Get the prescriptions and hide in the darkness of their home to use. What are you scared of. If it passes it will make your drug of choice harder to get? My problem didn't happen till I was about 35. Had never even smoked a joint. I will now if you like it or not, legal or not. All my doctors know my problem because I tell them. They also know their my doctor until they write that first prescription for something addictive. I didn't lay in the gutter to get addicted. It wasn't my dream growing up. I got there laying in a hospital bed with doctors in control. Try spending a year in one in pain. Be hospitalized 15 times in a year. Not all of us are thugs. But a lot of people that oppose it are ignorant. That's ignorant not stupid. Ignorant means you just don't know about something. Some may qualify on the other though.

Why would anyone want a synthetic version? Nothing beats natural and organic. Medical science has already successfully proven that the more natural the products are that you consume the better off you are. Quit believing that these quick chemical fixes are the only option and the right option for everyone. If alcohol was the right recreational product for everyone, we wouldn't have so many people dying from consuming it, the same goes for medications. I quit watching television because of all the pharmaceutical ads listing the side effects followed by class action lawsuits over the deaths and additional health problems these drugs have created.
