LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- One of the hundreds of bills filed before the deadline on Monday would allow children of illegal immigrants to attend Arkansas universities at the in-state tuition rate.

Senator Joyce Elliott has unsuccessfully tried to pass similar legislation twice before.

Senate Bill 915 says any student who graduated from and attended an Arkansas high school for three years will be charged the in-state rate.

Right now those students face out-of-state tuition rates, which are more expensive.

"This is one thing we can do regarding these kids," says Senator Elliott. "We can't change immigration law, we can't tell Washington what to do, but we do have authority to decide who is going to go to our colleges and under what conditions."

The legislation currently has bi-partisan support, including a Republican co-sponsor.

Maybe Beebe's and Elliot's expenses, salaries and benefits should be totally paid by just the taxes that these illegal immigrants are paying. Think that might change their tunes? People we have almost completely lost our country to politicians who think of the middle class as nothing more than the suppliers of a never ending economic buffet. I weap for the future.

If they want money for education, make them become legal citizens and start paying taxes. I am so sick and tired of feeding, housing, providing medical, providing education and supporting these illegals that dont pay a f'ing dime in taxes. F'ing Beebe and Elliot. Two reasons why Arkansas is so f'ed up. Cut the illegals and the welfare sucking dead beats off of my tax tit, I'm fed up with it.

You guys hit it on the head, El Beebe has promoted this garbage by first rewarding all of the illegal Mexicans with 250K worth of interpreters up at UAMS (paid by your tax $) to cater to them and coach the wetbacks and their babies on to our Ark. Medicaid program (which not other hospital does). And now this, Elliott just knows she needs to get this proposed before El Beebe leaves office.

Has Joyce Elliott lost her mind? She is always ready to give something away as long as it is paid for by the taxpayers.I think we would be better off if she caught a Greyhound out of state.Plus I wish she would grow some hair, maybe she would not be so ugly.

It never ends. We need to fire all of them from our state to the federal level. I'm married with children so my kids don't get the same benifits as someone that belongs to another country.
