LOUANN, Ark. (AP) — The only Democrat who's announced he'll run for U.S. Rep. Mike Ross' House seat says he's raised no money for next year's race.
While two Republicans announced their fundraising totals for the third quarter Thursday, State Sen. Gene Jeffress of Louann tells The Associated Press that he "hasn't raised a penny."
The race to replace Ross in the 4th Congressional District, which covers southern Arkansas, will likely be an expensive one. Ross raised $2.4 million during his campaign to be re-elected last year. Tom Cotton of Dardanelle announced Thursday that he's raised more than $343,000 in this year's third quarter. Beth Anne Rankin of Magnolia says she's raised $170,000.
Jeffress says he's met with voters in almost 30 counties in the district, but not asked for any donations.
