LONOKE, AR - The Lonoke County Election Commission says between 200 and 300 votes from one of their precincts were never counted Tuesday night and as a result, they're conducting a full recount of every race in the county.
The recount started at 6pm and we're still waiting on the results.
Larry Clark, a County Clerk candidate says, "To see an election go downhill within a matter of hours, that could've been prevented, it's disheartening."
According to the Lonoke County Election Commission, between 200 and 300 votes from the Magnets precinct, just north of Cabot, were never counted. They say the problem stems from misplaced P.E.B.'s - small disks that store votes electronically.
Now they're recounting every vote for every race and they're doing it in a room full of candidates with their own take on the proceedings.
"We're just watching some dog and pony show, you know?” Clark says. “Sure they’re going to have their ducks in a row but it doesn't alleviate what happened on election night."
Tax Assessor candidate Jack McNally says, "How can you be angry at someone that made a mistake? I mean it was, elections can be maddening."
Waiting for their results can be maddening too. But most of these candidates say as long as the results are correct, they're worth the wait."
