LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Polls are closed for Arkansas voters casting ballots in this year's general election.
Polling places were busy all day Tuesday. Nearly a half-million Arkansans voted early and election officials predicted that 65 percent of the state's 1.6 million registered voters would cast ballots, or about 1.04 million.
The GOP is favored in congressional matchups around the state and Republican Mitt Romney is widely expected to win the state's six electoral votes.
Meanwhile, dozens of pivotal state House and Senate races are on the line in contests that could hand Republicans control of the Legislature for the first time since Reconstruction.
Polls opened at 7:30 a.m. and closed at 7:30 p.m. If a voter is standing in line when polls close he or she can still cast a ballot.
