LITTLE ROCK, AR -- A bill that would make the Arkansas Department of Education the authority on Arkansas charter schools passed the Senate Education Committee on Wednesday.

The Department of Education will now be able to make decisions on charter schools across the Natural State.

Still, the bill allows the Board of Education to override their decision if necessary.

That bill now heads to a full vote in the Senate.
