TEXARKANA, Texas (AP) — Investigators say a fire at a northeast Texas home has left an elderly couple dead.

Officials say the fire was reported around midnight Tuesday in Texarkana, Texas, when a passing driver called 911 after seeing the flames.

KSLA-TV reports firefighters found the body of an 86-year-old man in a back bedroom. The body of the 87-year-old woman was located in the middle of the home.

Texarkana Fire Department Battalion Chief Dennis Martin says the fire appears to have started in a carport and the wind blew the flames through the attic.

Names of the victims have not been released.
