LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — Five public meetings will be held across Arkansas for residents to voice their sentiments regarding teacher evaluations and waivers the state is seeking for the No Child Left Behind law.

The Education Department announced the meetings Wednesday. They'll be held in late November and early December in Alma, Arkadelphia, Monticello Jonesboro and Maumelle.

The agency wants input from parents, teachers and administrators on how a law on teacher evaluations is put into play.

The department is also seeking opinions on the department's decision to seek a waiver for some of the No Child Left Behind requirements. To get approval, the state has to show it is enacting innovative programs geared to raise achievement levels. Education officials want input from teachers and communities on how to craft the waiver request.
