LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — The Arkansas State Board of Education is set to consider a slew of charter school-related items.
The board is scheduled to meet Monday morning in Little Rock. One item on its agenda is a request from the Arkansas Virtual Academy in Little Rock to increase its enrollment cap from 500 to 1,500 students. The school has students from kindergarten through the eighth grade.
The board will also consider approving for public comment proposals to repeal current Arkansas Department of Education rules governing public charter schools and limited public charter schools.
Under the proposals, those rules would be replaced with new rules that cover open-enrollment, conversion and limited public charter schools.
