Arkansas Foodbank opens branch in Caddo Valley

Arkansas Foodbank has opened a new branch to serve five counties in southwestern Arkansas.

CADDO VALLEY, Ark. (AP) — Arkansas Foodbank has opened a new branch to serve five counties in southwestern Arkansas.

The organization held a Tuesday ceremony to dedicate the 10,000-square-foot warehouse in Caddo Valley.

The warehouse will immediately serve eight agencies in the area and will ultimately provide food in Clark, Dallas, Garland, Hot Spring and Montgomery counties.

Arkansas Foodbank is headquartered in Little Rock and helps provide food to the poor in 33 of the state's 75 counties.

The new warehouse is the second outside of Little Rock for the nongovernmental agency. In 2010, the foodbank opened in Warren.

The agency serves about 300 pantries and soup kitchens.
