HOPE, AR - Arson is suspected in a factory fire in Hope (Hempstead County).
The building, which had sat vacant for several years, was destroyed Tuesday night.
The fire broke out at East Division and South Hazel around 6:30.
The Hope Prescott Newspaper reported the building was engulfed in flames by the time firefighters arrived.
They were able to keep the fire from spreading to nearby buildings.
A nearby gas line continued to fan the flames even after the fire was out.
Utility crews worked to shut it down.
The building used to be home to "The Fink and Company Puzzle Factory" and "The W. Shanhouse and Sons Garment Factory."
The Hope Police Department is investigating the fire and asks for anyone with information about it to call Sergeant Jesus Coronado at (870) 722-2561.
