Double Arrest in Hot Springs Murder from 2009

HOT SPRINGS, AR - Two Malvern men are jailed in Hot Springs in connection with a 2009 murder.

David H. Williams, 66, and Dwight L. Yarnell, 59, are charged in the shooting death of Kenneth Nance, 49.

Nance's body was found May 9, 2009 in a field near 116 Alpine. He had been shot in the head.

During the course of the investigation, detectives were told by two different people that an uncle (later identified as Yarnell) of Nance's girlfriend had shot Nance.

Police say detectives also learned that another relative of Nance's girlfriend had told someone that he, Yarnell, and Williams had gone to Hot Springs to find Nance and stopped him while he was walking down the street.

According to the story told to detectives, Yarnell had hid in bushes while Williams approached Nance. while Nance was distracted, Yarnell ran up behind him and shot him in the back of the head. The murder weapon was described as a .22 rifle.

Yarnell and Williams are both facing a charge of 1st degree murder.
