The El Dorado School Board
has voted to eliminate six full-time positions and one part-time job.
The cuts will be made in these areas: foreign language, dance, family and consumer sciences, administration, librarian and counselor.
The cuts will save the district just under 600-thousand-dollars for the 2013-2014 school year.
Board members say while the cuts were difficult to make, they were necessary.
"It's always difficult when you have a reduction in force, but we're thankful that it wasn't as deep as we originally thought it was to be," says School Board Member Wayne Gibson.
District officials say that all staff members currently impacted by the cuts have been notified that their positions will be eliminated.
