House Approves Bill to End Shutdown, Raise Debt Ceiling

President Barack Obama says he will approve the measure as soon as it reaches his desk.
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- At 9:13 Wednesday tonight, finally the House passed a Senate bill to raise the debt ceiling and reopen the government.

This after 16 long days involving hundreds of thousands of furloughs, endless debates and bi-partisan bickering.

President Barack Obama says he will approve the measure as soon as it reaches his desk.

The deal will end the partial government shutdown funding it until Jan. 15.

It will also raise the debt limit until Feb. 7  to avert what could have been the first ever default on U.S. debt obligations.
