LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — A Kiwanis Club member from Arkansas is one of 14 Kiwanis International members who are to be honored as a "Champion of Change" during a ceremony at the White House.

Sanford Tollette of the Kiwanis Club of Little Rock will be among those recognized during Friday's ceremony.

Tollette is being honored for his efforts that started in 1988 to transform a summer camp for underprivileged children into a year-round program called Alternative Classroom Experience. The program is operated at Joseph Pfeifer Kiwanis Camp in Little Rock and hosts 150 at-risk children each year in a residential educational program.
