A Winter Storm Watch will be in effect for a small number of counties in North Arkansas on Thursday.
A late season winter storm is expected to leave wintry precipitation in Baxter, Boone, Fulton, Izard, Marion and Sharp counties.
The National Weather Service in Little Rock says a mixture of snow, sleet and possibly some freezing rain will occur.
Snow is expected to be the predominant precipitation type with 1 to 3 inches of snowfall predicted.
Some local accumulations of up to 4 inches will also be possible.
Winter precipitation should begin mid-to-late Thursday morning, then continue through the day and into Thursday evening before transitioning to just rain.
Hazardous travel, mainly at higher elevations and on elevated roadways such as bridges and overpasses, will be possible.
In addition to hazardous travel, it is spring break week and many people will be enjoying the outdoors.
Individuals are encouraged to dress for snowy and rainy conditions should they venture out on Thursday.
